To create zones and add/remove rooms

  1. Do one of the following:

    On the Ribbon > System Managers tab, click the Zone Manager icon.

    or

    Select Zone Manager from the pop-up menu on the Zones object in the OpenBuildings Station DesignerProject Tree dialog box.

    The Zone Manager dialog box opens.
  2. In the Zones tab, click the Add button. A new zone is added to the Zones tab (with a default name).
  3. Right click on the new zone, and select Rename. Rename the new zone. For instance, [Project name] zone1.
  4. Right click on the zone again, and select Copy.
  5. Rename the copy: [Project name] zone2 You are ready to add rooms to the zones.
  6. The Zone Manager dialog box's Available rooms panel lists all the available rooms and room divisions that exist in the project.
    Note: Initially, the list contains all the building’s rooms because no rooms have been assigned to a zone yet. As rooms are added to zones, the list changes based on availability. Rooms may exist in more than one zone, but they can not exist twice in a zone.
  7. Make zone1 active by selecting it in the Available rooms panel. Select one or more available rooms or room divisions. Multiple selections are made holding the shift or ctrl keys.Click the Add button between the Available rooms and Rooms of zone panels. The rooms are moved from the Available rooms panel to the Rooms of zone panel. They now belong to zone1, and cannot be added to zone1 again.
  8. Make zone2 active by selecting it in the Available rooms panel. The full list of rooms and room divisions appears in the Available rooms panel. Although several rooms already belong to zone1, all are available to be added to zone2 (an empty zone).
  9. Select all the rooms and room divisions from the Available rooms panel, and click Add. Zone2 now contains all the rooms and room divisions in your project. The Available rooms panel is empty.
  10. Reactivate zone1. Rooms and room divisions that belong to zone2 but not to zone1 are listed in the Available rooms panel.
  11. Select one room, and click Remove. The room moves back to the Available rooms panel.
  12. Reactivate zone2. The room you just removed from zone1 is available to add to zone2.
  13. Do one of the following:

    Click OK to apply current changes and close/exit the Zone Manager dialog box.

    or

    Click Apply to save the current zone changes to your project. This leaves the Zone Manager dialog box open to continue creating and modifying zones.

    Two zone objects each containing the rooms and room divisions are added to the Project Tree hierarchy.
